Defacto Thezpian

(#Motiv8Mondays) Defacto Thezpian: Featured Artist of the Week

Defacto Thezpian (loosely translated into “real actor”) was born in Durham, NC. Though he was partially raised in Jersey City, New Jersey he considers the “Bull City” his home. A defining statement that he takes with him throughout his journey in the entertainment industry is “Honesty is the best policy”. He considers this saying as one that can be applied in more ways than one, and he of course chooses to use this in his everyday life.

Defacto Thezpian began with poetry in middle school, and in high school he started playing around with mixtapes. Sometime during his junior year, he was inspired by a friend and fellow classmate to really take things more seriously and from there, the passion just continued to grow more and more. He considers himself a Hip Hop artist and creative who also coaches people how to rap from time to time. What I find most intriguing about Defacto Thezpian is that he is not confined to any one sound or influence and is able to draws inspiration from many artists including, but not limited to Kanye West, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Esperanza Spalding.

He is most inspired by his acting peers from high school. He names Lauren Banks, Stephon Pettway, Kevin Wilson, and Mr. Tabb (his theatre mentor) as his primary influences. He is also inspired by the greatness around him, including his clients that he teaches to rap and musically coaches, and anyone who is “winning and not letting life get in the way of your goals”.

You can catch Defacto Thezpian at his upcoming show with another dope artist from the Raleigh/Durham area (Lil Bob Doe) in Brooklyn, NY, on November 8, 2018. He also recently released a music video for his single “I Don’t” on Youtube as well as two EPs (Facts About Bob and Burgundy Skies). Aside from that, he is working on more video content and setting up a big musical release next year.
