2018 Wolfpack Men’s Basketball Preview

Raleigh, NC – The 2018 Primetime with Pack was the first look at this season’s NC State Men’s Basketball team. This year’s Wolfpack team is a lot different than last season. The only returning players are redshirt senior guard Torin Dorn, junior guard Markell Johnson who is the reigning ACC assists leader at 7.4 assists per game and sophomore guard Braxton Beverly. When asked about the team’s chemistry,

“It’s just basketball,” said Dorn. “It’s always difficult when you have a lot of new pieces and a lot of changing parts. So [chemistry] just comes with playing. That’s why we’re excited to start the season…and see how it feels to play against some other teams.”

Wolfpack fans shouldn’t be worried about the team’s chemistry being a work in progress.

“Strength of our team, I think our versatility is one of our strengths,” said Dorn. “We have a lot of interchangeable parts. A lot of guys that can play multiple positions. We can give teams a lot of different looks.”

Last season the Wolfpack finished 21-12 (11-7, ACC) and made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. Also, the Wolfpack finished top 5 in scoring, field-goal percentage, 3-point percentage, assists and steals in the ACC last season. For the 2nd time in head coach Kevin Keatts’s tenure at NC State, the Wolfpack are preseason ranked 12th in the ACC.

The Wolfpack will be in action again on October 29 against Chowan at PNC Arena. Their first regular season game is November 6 against Mount St. Mary’s at PNC Arena. Last season the Wolfpack went 16-3 at home. The Wolfpack look to defend home court early as their first away game is against Wisconsin in the Big 10/ACC Challenge on November 27.
