Reddish’s Big Day Leads Duke Past Stetson 113-49
DURHAM, NC – Duke would use a 24-4 run in the first half to lead to a dominating 113-49 victory over Stetson.
The game started out as a back and forth contest with both teams trading the lead eight times within the first five minutes. Duke would get on the board first on a breakaway fast break layup by RJ Barrett to give the number 3rd ranked team in the country the 2-0 lead. After Abayomi Iyiola hit one of two of his free throws, Cam Reddish hit a deep three-pointer to go up 5-1.
Kenny Aninye and Iyiola hit back-to-back field goals to tie the game up at 5 for Stetson.
Both teams going back-and-forth, the Hatters took a 12-11 lead on an Iyiola jumper with 15:23 remaining in the half.
Duke would respond by going on a 17-0 run, started by three consecutive Zion Williamson field goals to get the Blue Devils ahead to a 28-12 advantage. Williamson finished the game with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Cam Reddish would lead the Blue Devils in to the half with three baskets to help the Blue Devils go in to the halftime break with the 59-25 advantage. Reddish, who led all scorers at halftime with 18 points, finished the game with 23 points.
Williamson got a slam dunk to go to start the second half to extend Duke’s lead to 73-27. The Blue Devils would use a 24-2 run to end all hope for the Hatters and eventually move to an 113-49 victory.
Barrett led all scorers in the game with 26 points to go alongside his seven assists and rebounds. Justin Robinson, son of NBA-legend David Robinson, dropped a career-high 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field.
Tre Jones did a great job of running the show tonight, registering his third game of 7+ assists and no turnovers, which ties him with former guard and current assistant coach Jon Scheyer.
Duke (7-1) will host Hartford back in Cameron Indoor Stadium on December 5th at 7 pm.
