7th Annual Lincoln Foundation Legacy Award Luncheon Planned

Durham, NC – The Lincoln Community Health Center Foundation will hold its 7th Annual Legacy Award Luncheon on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Washington Duke Inn beginning at 11:30 am. The legacy award luncheon is the primary fundraiser for the Foundation. This year’s co-honorees are Dr. Oveta McIntosh-Vick and Dr. Veronica Ray, both of whom are practicing physicians at Lincoln Community Health Center.

Dr. Oveta McIntosh-Vick has served as Chief of Pediatrics at Lincoln Community Health Center since 1992. She has provided health care to children from newborn to age 18 for 31 years. Dr. McIntosh-Vick is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the North Carolina Pediatric Society, and the recipient of numerous awards. She is a Durham native, and received her MD from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 1983.

Dr. Veronica Ray is Lincoln’s longest serving physician at 36 years. She came to Lincoln in 1982 and has served two separate terms as Chief of Adult Medicine. Dr. Ray is also a Durham native, and received her MD from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She authored Healthy Tips and Recipes For Your Heart and is a frequent presenter on wellness.

Lincoln Community Health Center has served Durham since 1971, providing primary and preventive health care to an underserved, low-income population. Lincoln serves more than 33,000 children and adults annually, at 9 sites across Durham. 71% of Lincoln’s patients have incomes at or below 100% of the federal poverty level, and 55% of adult patients are uninsured. 89% of Lincoln’s patients are members of racial or ethnic minorities. Lincoln traces its history to the original Lincoln Hospital formed in 1901.

Lincoln Community Health Center Foundation, Inc.

The Lincoln Community Health Center Foundation, Inc. was incorporated in 2008 as a separate non-profit organization. The Foundation, whose mission is “to enhance the quality of health and improve access to healthcare in Durham and surrounding areas” serves as the fundraising arm of Lincoln Community Health Center. The Foundation makes an annual contribution to Lincoln Community Health Center, helping patients with medical equipment, supplies, education and other health care services.
