[Gallery] Dreamville Festival Brought An Eclectic Mix Of Fashions
Fashion is part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of a revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes.” – Diana Vreeland
Raleigh, NC – With the spring temps in the mid 70’s, the fashions at the first annual Dreamville Festival were very bright, artistic and “rustic” wear. The capitol city welcomed Dreamville Festival to Dorothea Dix Park, hosted by Hip-Hop artist and NC native J. Cole on past Saturday ( April 6). The temp was in the mid 70’s so everyone was dressed for the warm weather and the muddy ground as it had been a downpour of rain the previous day.
One recurring trend of the Festival fashion was Nipsey Hussle tees and headscarves. He was gunned down in front of his Marathon Store in Los Angeles on March 31st, since then there has been an outpouring of heartfelt sympathy and praise all over to the fallen artist taken so soon. Fanny packs seem to be the biggest bag trend which has made a comeback in the last year. There was also an abundance of Afro-centric attire and accessories as well as the standard jeans, jean shorts and jackets.
Of all the looks that were shown, my favorite was the abundance of the MC Hammer Pants and Converse sneakers. I personally wore a pair of sneakers and they kept me comfortable, fashionable, and trendy although the ground was moist. The MC Hammer Pants take us back to the 80’s with the loose fitting details and bright colors.
The performers also put us in the mood by the throwback outfits and high-top sneakers brands such as Nike, Converse and Adidas.
The turnout of Dreamville was major to the triangle area and the eclectic, creative fashion flow brought out the idea of a festival.
