Mother & 8-Year-Old Daughter Make History – Both Crowned Queens Representing NC

Elon, NC – Dr. Renita L. Webb was crowned Mrs. Black NC USA 2019 on March 31st. She was blessed to have her daughter, Reign S. Webb, Little Miss Black NC USA 2019 (who was crowned in December) to help in her crowning. Renita and Reign are the first mother/daughter pairs to reign at the state level at the same time in the Noire Productions’ pageant’s history and one of two mother/daughter pairs to reign as 2019 queens in the pageant system. They both entered the pageant representing the City of Durham, Renita’s hometown. They currently reside in Elon, NC.

Each of the ladies had to provide a platform they would utilize to serve the state if crowned. Dr. Webb’s platform “Realizing Refinement” is a branch from her non-profit organization, The Refining Life, Inc., and is focused on helping people realize when they are in refining processes and when they need to activate those processes. She believes that “life itself is a refining process.”

Reign’s platform is “The Arts and Me.” Her goal is to help little black and brown girls know that the arts can be a part of their lives. She hopes to help girls “let their black girl magic shine!” She has had the opportunity to dance on local and national stages and performing has really helped her gain confidence.

Both ladies have learned that in announcing their reign that:
1. Representation matters – many mothers and little girls are encouraged that they could shine because they are shining.
2. People are looking for things to celebrate – they have received such a warm reception from everyone who has found out they won.
3. It is more than a crown – they have both had the chance to start and serve the community and are looking forward to serving more throughout their reign
