Street Fashion Meetup: African Prints & Boho Chic
Raleigh, NC – Every year summer ushers in the bright, the bold and the newest of complex prints and patterns. That’s why the Street Fashion Meetup in May took on the African Prints and Boho Chic theme.
Spring is also the beginning of festival and outdoor concert season. At this time you can find young concert-goers donning their most eccentric prints and patterns. Take Coachella for example. Whether it be masses of accessories, highly distressed jeans, crop-tops and flower- power like ensembles, this time of year brings out the bohemian in many.
The word bohemian is a noun and an adjective describing a person or thing that is socially unconventional, especially in the arts. The term ‘boho chic’ is an amalgamation of the term bohemian, homeless, elegant and stylish. Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, and Johnny Depp are three modern public figures who fit the style mold. However, the idea of the term was most prominent from the 1960s to the mid-1990s. That’s a brief fashion history for you. You can Google the rest.
While this may have seemed like a great showcasing opportunity of all the beautiful prints made for women; designer NwoJones of MNL Fashion showed out in men’s fashion with his two original suits. His two male models totally stole the show in a beautiful burned orange suit accompanied by a very fresh green and blue African print suit.
May’s Street Fashion Meetup was held in downtown Raleigh. Here are the highlights:
