UPS President George Brooks to Deliver Convocation Keynote for St. Augustine’s University
Raleigh, NC – Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) will formally mark the opening of the school year with its 153rd Fall Convocation on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Julia Chester Emery Gymnasium. George Brooks, President of UPS International Inc., Americas Region will deliver the keynote address.
“Saint Augustine’s University is honored to welcome George Brooks,” said Dr. Gaddis Faulcon, interim president. “He has distinguished himself as a strong business leader with a sustained commitment to the community.”
Brooks began his UPS career as a part-time package handler in Carrollton, Georgia, in 1983. In 1984, he was promoted to package car driver and then held management assignments in all of UPS operations in Georgia, New Jersey, and New York. Most recently he was the President, U.S. Operations Engagement & Communications.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia and an MBA with an emphasis in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. Brooks also graduated from the Columbia Senior Executive Program at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and the Chief Executive Leadership Institute at the Yale School of Management.
An active supporter of organizations such as Junior Achievement, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Way and the National Urban League, Brooks has held memberships in the University of West Georgia (UWG) Foundation Inc., the National Association of Guardsmen, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the Chicago Urban League.
Brooks has been invited to participate in the Joint Civilian Orientation Course, the oldest and most prestigious public liaison program in the Department of Defense.
