[Gallery] Failed Two-Point Conversion Cuts North Carolina’s Upset of No. 1 Clemson
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina Tar Heels had a shot to pull off a historic upset over the No. 1 Clemson Tigers last Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
After Carolina sophomore running back Javonte Williams scored a 1-yard touchdown rushing, the Tar Heels were down 21-20 with a chance to tie the game with a point-after-attempt or take the lead with a two-point conversion.
Carolina head coach Mack Brown and offensive coordinator Phil Longo elected to go for the two-point conversion. The Tar Heels ran a triple-option with freshman quarterback Sam Howell, but the Tigers stopped him short of the goal line. Clemson ran the clock out on the ensuing possession and defeated the Tar Heels 21-20.
