It’s not just about telling them they’ve done something good. We need to tell them why they’ve excelled themselves this time. We also need to remember to accept ideas and input. We may very well have unique ideas, and only want to follow our own path, but if we want to empower employees to do more, we’ve got to remember it’s about that give and take.

Delegation is the best way to develop a business. If you are someone that does not necessarily delegate your duties, or you are someone that micromanages, it’s down to you to fix these issues within yourself, but also upon the learn the fine art of delegating. It’s a way to minimize your workload, but at the same time, you are encouraging employees to take charge of a very important assignment. The more this is done, the more you start to realize that your employees aren’t just window dressing.

Recognition For Hard Work

Sometimes, your employees will go above and beyond without you even asking them, and while we provide feedback for their hard work, we also have to recognize it. Partly, this helps to improve the culture of the company because we are investigating a more nurturing environment but if we begin to recognize how our employees are benefiting the company, they will do it again, and they will do it better. Encouraging innovation is a fantastic approach to avoiding breeding drones in your workplace. You don’t want people to follow the rules, you want people to develop their own style. This can be very difficult to achieve, especially in an environment where everything needs to be done to the letter. But if you want to empower your employees, you must remember the importance of autonomy, and encouraging free thinking. It is the hallmark of the modern, holistic workplace.
