East Durham Children’s Initiative Begins Its Fourth Annual Winter Coat Drive

Durham, NC — The cold season for the Triangle area has arrived, and this year, as every year, there are families in need of winter items such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and earmuffs. For those who wish to help, East Durham Children’s Initiative now has donation boxes available so that local businesses and offices can collect new or gently used coats and winter items in our Fourth Annual Winter Coat Drive.

winterAs part of the drive, EDCI delivers the donation boxes and campaign posters to willing helpers. The boxes can then be prominently displayed and used to collect new or gently used winter items for the families enrolled in EDCI. The generously donated items from different businesses, such as nonprofits and organizations throughout the Raleigh-Durham area are collected and picked up for distribution by EDCI’s Middle School Family Advocate, Darryl Barnes.

The urgency of providing winter items for kids and adults continues to grow every year. EDCI has made it part of its mission to help families who are in need, especially during the holiday season. EDCI is asking for everyone’s support throughout the community to help make this drive the biggest one yet!

If anyone has any questions or is willing to help, please contact Darryl Barnes at 919-706-6075 or Darryl.Barnes@edci.org. And to learn more about how EDCI helps East Durham children succeed in school, from cradle to college or career, visit edci.org.
