Dr. Paulette Dillard Receives Mayors Award for Commitment to Community

Raleigh, NC One of Knightdale mayor James Roberson’s most intriguing initiatives is the Mayor’s Award for Commitment to Community. The award honors those who give back to the Town of Knightdale through volunteerism, support of community events or providing services to the citizens of Knightdale. Their efforts help to solidify Knightdale as one of the best places to live, work and play, according to Roberson.

Roberson greeted the honorees and guests, saying, “This time of year is a chance to count our blessings and to celebrate others. All the accolades our community has received for growth and the quality of life we have to offer, that’s because of people like you. What you do, supporting neighbors, volunteering your time, creating businesses, and so much more, that’s what community is all about.”

This year’s Commitment to Community honorees was a very impressive group of fourteen individuals, all of whom have an impact in their community through community service and activism. The group of attorneys, educators, health services professionals, small business owners, public servants, and community activists also included President Paulette Dillard of Shaw University. Roberson lauded Dr. Dillard’s service to organizations seeking to improve the overall quality of life, ensure an equitable, sustainable business climate, and provide access to education in greater Wake County.
