Late Second-Half Run Pushes Duke Past Brown
DURHAM, NC – The Duke Blue Devils defeated the Brown Bears 75-50 Saturday morning in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke improves to 11-1 on the season with the victory. Brown falls to 5-6.
The Blue Devils used a 20-4 run to blow the game open in the second half that proved to be the difference.
The Blue Devils were led offensively by freshman forward Vernon Carey Jr, who led all scorers and finished the game with 19 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Alex O’Connell added 14 points to the effort.
Brandon Anderson finished with 16 points and three assists to lead Brown.
Starting point guard Tre Jones missed his second consecutive game as he continues to recover from a mild left foot sprain. His status remains day-to-day. Jones is averaging 15.6 points and 7.1 assists per game this season.
Duke returns home to host Boston College in their first ACC conference contest of the season on Tuesday, December 31 at 6 pm.
