Top Producers Of Boxing Champions Other Than U.S.

The boxing tradition in the U.S. can be dated back to the late 1700s when it was first introduced from England. It has always been the heavyweight division that has drawn the maximum charisma to the sports fans. Lately, there has been a decline in the interest in the sport specifically in the U.S. Especially, post the unified world heavyweights champions have become more popular.

However, this has also increased the potential for other countries to train and compete for the title. So much so that, many countries surpass the U.S. in certain divisions. Especially, the Latin American and Asian countries.

Here are some of the top contenders for producing world boxing champions, other than the U.S.

Mexico, North America

Mexico is only second to the U.S. when it comes to training and claiming world titles. In fact, the country is often referred to as the Titan for producing highly skilled Boxers.

So much so that, whenever a night for any Mexican boxer is organized in any of the states, the tickets sell out pretty fast. For instance, Canelo Alvarez is a four-division world champion, and Canelo tickets price ought to be competitive due to the high followership of this Mexican Boxer. There’s no wonder, the country is popular for producing legendary Boxers.

There are many other Mexican legends, and a few to name; the greatest of all is considerably Julio Cesar Chavez, with six wins in three divisions; Robin Olivares, Salvador Sanchez, and Ricardo Lopez are a few others that top the charts of all time Boxing Champions.

Another fighter that spotted the limelight during the 1950s, Carlos Ortiz, defeated all his avengers and took the boxing world by storm. He still has one of the best resumes in the sports world.

To top it all, Puerto Rico is probably the only one to hold titles in all categories and divisions. It has held close to 50 champion titles so far.

Cuba

It would be an injustice to keep 37 times gold medalist in the Olympics, the republic of Cuba out of this list. The small island country, although it banned professional boxing during the time of Fidel Castro, can still be spotted at some of the most professional fighting rings, internationally. This is also the reason why amateur boxing reigns this small island country.

From time to time, an amateur who wishes to claim glory can be seen fighting and defeating skilled fighters. But, this does not mean at all that there are no professional fighters from Cuba.
