Lady Wolfpack Dominate North Florida to Open 2020-21 Season

RALEIGH, NC – The North Carolina State Lady Wolfpack opened the 2020-21 season against the University of North Florida with a dominant 93-65 victory in Reynold’s Coliseum on Wednesday (Nov. 25) afternoon.

The season began with only essential employees, game production staff, and limited family as the only fans in the stands.

Kai Crutchfield led NC State with 21 points. Sophomore forward Jada Boyd finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Elissa Cunane added to the scoring threat with 12 points.  Needing just the 12 points coming into the outing, Cunane reached the 1,000-point milestone in the first half. It made her the ninth active ACC player, the only active junior in the conference, and the 35th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points.

North Florida guard and Durham-native Marissa Mackins led all scorers in the game with 22 points.

Wednesday marked the Wolfpack’s 37th-straight home victory against a non-conference opponent. It is also the sixth-straight overall win for NC State, dating back to the 2019-20 season when the team ended the year on a five-game win streak that ended with its ACC Tournament title.

NC State (1-0) will look to keep their momentum going as they return home to host Radford on Sunday, November 29th at 2 pm. The game will be aired live on ACCNX. Attendance is not open to the general public.
