Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People Elects Antonio Jones As New Chairman

Durham, NC  – The Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People (DCABP) held its virtual election of officers on Thursday (Dec. 3). The general body elected Antonio Jones as chairman for its next two-year term. Jones takes over the role as the current chair, Omar Beasley, leaves the position after 5 years.

Elected to serve as 1st Vice-Chair is Shanetta N. Burris, MPA and to return to their executive positions are 2nd Vice-Chair Sharon Mullen, 3rd Vice-Chair Thelma Glenn White, and Treasurer Tyronne Johnson. Angie Steele will stay on as Interim Executive Secretary.

The sub-committee officers elected are:
  • Stella Adams – Housing Chair
  • Kimberly V. Williams, MBA – Housing Vice Chair
  • Angelique Stallings – Civic Chair
  • Rosa S. Anderson – Civic Vice Chair
  • Felecia Robinson – Public Relations Chair
  • Terrance White – Economic Chair
  • Leonardo Williams – Economic Vice Chair
  • Dr. Ronda Taylor-Bullock – Education/Youth Chair
  • Dr. Wanda Boone – Health/Public Safety Chair
  • Tia Hall – Political Chair
  • John Rooks, Jr. – Political Vice Chair
  • Floyd McKissick, III – Legal Redress Chair
  • Aminah Thompson – Legal Redress Vice Chair

Chairman-Elect Jones thanks outgoing Chairman Omar Beasley for his outstanding service to the organization and the community over the past seven years and looks forward to working with all community members that share in the mission and values set forth by the founding members of the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People.
