IupTwinz rap duo Benny Broadway (l) and Karolina Pride (r)

1UpTwinz, hip-hop/rap recording artists & performers also known by their solo artist’ names Benny Broadway and Karolina Pride, has been selected as the Spectacular Magazine Featured Artist of the Week for the week of December 28, 2020. The identical twins just emerged as a twin duo six months ago.

Although they are identical, their individuality is what makes 1UpTwinz a group to definitely watch out for. They are able to feed off the energy of each other while also showing their different approaches to making music. They have two singles that were released this year, “Big Knots” and “Loaded”. “Loaded” was their debut single together that premiered June 21, 2020, on Youtube.

Watch “Loaded” by the 1UpTwinz:

Individually, Karolina Pride has been on the music scene since 2018 having released three albums. Karolina Pride II was released in2020, two years after the last album Karolina Pride. Benny Broadway has navigated his way through the music world for three years through rap battles to display his ability to paint any image in your mind with the words that just flow out his mouth.

I recently had the opportunity to catch 1UpTwinz perform their debut singles on stage at the Back 2 Da Bazics Showcase and Competition. After that electrifying performance, I wanted to know more about them.

Angelica Bonds (AB): When did you start making music?

Karolina Pride (Pride): I’ve been making music since I was 5 years old playing drums in my granddaddy’s church but I began taking rapping and recording music seriously in 2010.

Benny Broadway (Broadway): I’ve been doing music for about three years now but I’ve had a way with words my whole life.

AB: In what ways has your music changed since you first got started?
Pride: My music has changed a lot since I started rapping. God gave me the ability to adapt and overcome so I just go with the wave of whatever’s hot at the time and apply it to my sound.

Broadway: It’s more pain and experience in my music now than before.

AB: What is your motivation for your art?
Pride: My motivation really is being able to use the gifts God gave me to be a blessing to others, but all in all just making music that people can relate to. I love going to perform places where nobody knows us but by the end of our set, they’re singing along with us. It’s the thrill and the surreal feeling for me.

Broadway: My kids are the sole motivation behind anything I do because if it wasn’t for them the world wouldn’t know Broadway.

AB: Who are your musical or artistic influences? Are there any artists with whom you would like to collaborate with?
Pride: I would say my influences are Thug, Meek Mill, Tory Lanez & the #GOAT Wayne. That’s really where the basis of my sound breaks down to in my opinion. These are the influencers of my music along with K Camp and Youngboy and I can’t forget, JT from the City Girls.

Broadway:  Good Music, Think It’s A Game, Quality Control, and Rare Sound. I would want to work with anyone that wants to work with me but if I had a choice at this particular moment, Lil Baby or Travis Scott.

AB: Do you have any upcoming projects, shows, or appearances?

1UpTwinz: As far as new projects go, we have two different ones which are releasing sometime in January. It’s 12 different emotions and vibes that honestly, in our opinion, is a classic.
