The 55th NFL Super Bowl halftime show was followed by many mixed reviews. On Thursday, February 4th, the NFL held a short news briefing featuring this year’s halftime performer The Weeknd. The Weeknd was short with his comments as he stated he did not want to give away a lot of information about the performance. He was surprised to learn during the press conference that he was the first Canadian performer to headline an NFL halftime show ever. When asked how he felt about that information, he simply stated “I am honored.” The Weeknd reportedly contributed $7 million of his own money for the production of the show.

The Show:

The Weeknd opened his halftime performance with a beautiful billboard-like set that transformed into his main performance stage. He performed hits such as “Can’t Feel My Face” and “Starboy.” The set changed again, as The Weeknd walked into what looked to be a backstage set, that reminded one of a children’s funhouse at a carnival. This transition was followed by his last, which placed him on the actual football field with an overwhelming number of male dancers wearing face coverings, performing his hit “Blinding Lights.” Fireworks and bright lights were the stars of the show.

Review:

The Weeknd’s halftime performance was immediately to talk of social media even before the NFL game ended. The performance left some viewers barely satisfied and others wanting more. The Weeknd undoubtedly has many hits and fans, however, his overall performance was not too exciting to watch. The stage and props were bright and beautiful, but the production itself lacked creativity. There were many dancers, but the choreography was less than basic. The Weeknd’s performance was tainted by hilarious social media videos before the football game was over. Unfortunately, if this was the first time hearing or watching The Weeknd, I dare say, it wouldn’t leave you wanting more. I sat there wishing for Monday to hurry and come! Can The Weeknd be over?

  1. Thanks for your write-up. One other thing is always that individual states have their particular laws that will affect house owners, which makes it quite hard for the the legislature to come up with a brand new set of guidelines concerning foreclosure on people. The problem is that a state features own legislation which may have impact in an adverse manner when it comes to foreclosure insurance plans.
