Raleigh, NC – Thirty-year-old Raleigh native Tiffany Barnes has always had a great passion for helping children and making a difference in their lives. She has worked with children since the age of 10; helping her mother babysit neighborhood kids was her first job. Barnes went on to become a Teacher’s Assistant and Substitute Teacher incorporating running drills, games, yoga stretches, and music in her lessons. “Motivating and uplifting others grew stronger when I gave birth to my 8-year-old son Mitchell,” said Barnes. Passion, motivation, and a fundamental belief that exercising should be fun, uplifting, and beneficial, led Barnes to create the I Am Run Club.

I Am Run Club is an enrichment program for children of all fitness levels. “We transform traditional running games and drills into powerful life lessons,” Barnes explained. “Parents know when their children are with us, they are getting a great workout and building strength of character.”

In this episode of #SpecMagShorts I spoke to Tiffany Barnes about the I Am Run Club. She talks about how she puts both feet forward each day to be the best parent and coach she can be. Barnes also details the programs and goals of the I Am Run Club.

As a member of the I Am Run Club, every child is able to compete and reach the goals they once thought were beyond them. The run club has worked with hundreds of children of all fitness levels and has taught fun and active tools to harness self-confidence. They have eight-core empowerment principles that were selected to create a unique and powerful curriculum.

The aim is to empower all kids of all abilities through running games, drills, and team-building activities. This program helps build children’s confidence and builds strength of character. “Your child does not have to be an expert in running to join the team. We understand and encourage all kids to participate in this program. Not all kids enjoy running, so this program isn’t based on just running,” Barnes stated. I Am Run Club is a self-motivating program that helps transform the lives of children by reaching goals that they once thought weren’t possible. “We believe that there is no competition in teamwork.”

Business during covid has been steady but slow at times. “Parents, of course, are taking precautions, which is understandable,” says Barnes. “As restrictions are being lifted, business is picking back up. We want to make sure children are safe. We supply masks and sanitizers, Also games are being played 6 ft apart.”

I Am Run Club offers 8-week programs for Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter for all youth ages 5-12. The location is Dorothea Dix Park (Big Field), 2105 Umstead Dr. Raleigh, NC 27603.

Visit their website Iamrunclub.com for registration and details on their summer programs.
