‘Granddaughter Of Hip Hop’ LeA Robinson Is Blessing The Masses With Her New Single
Singer, actress, and proclaimed ‘Granddaughter of Hip-Hop’ LeA Robinson is back with another track to lift spirits, encourage listeners, and subtly boast about her recent accolades. LeA Robinson is a singer, songwriter, recording engineer, actress, and humanitarian who was literally born into hip-hop. She’s been affectionately known as ‘The Granddaughter of Hip-Hop’, as she is the granddaughter of the musical legend and hip-hop pioneer Sylvia Robinson, founder of Sugar Hill Records. LeA is making strides of continuing on her family’s legacy as well as creating her own. LeA became a lead cast member in her family’s hit reality television show on Bravo TV, First Family of Hip-Hop. More recently, she starred in season three of FX’s Pose. Her new single, ‘BLESSED’, was written, produced, and engineered by the R&B star.
“Blessed is a walking affirmation – a feel-good song. So many of us work so hard and don’t give ourselves recognition or acknowledge where our blessings are coming from. I have to say, Lil Nas X inspired it with his ‘MONTERO – Call Me By Your Name’ because my song is literally the opposite of that. It’s about trusting God,” LeA says.
LeA’s first performances were in her grandmother’s kitchen alongside legendary neighbor, Ronald Isley. Being surrounded by legends from an early age, she would soak in as much knowledge as possible from the people that came around. When she wasn’t in school, she would join her Sugar Hill Gang family on the road with the boy band, N’SYNC. At the age of fifteen, LeA joined a group with her best friends called The Bonde. The group used their voices and partnered with the United Nations and Amnesty International bringing awareness to human rights issues like FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). LeA was then able to help launch the United Nations International Year of Youth. During this time of LeA’s life, she made her first large television appearance on the MTV series My Super Sweet Sixteen.
Today, LeA makes great efforts to continue to leave her mark on this earth by being a female boss. After co-producing her very first song, she’s vowed to continue to do so as well as write the majority of her music. Less than 5% of the people creating the sounds, music, and media in the daily soundtrack of our lives are women and LeA is included in that small percentile. The legacy will continue.
