(First Look) ‘Needle in a Timestack’ Starring Cynthia Erivo And Leslie Odom Jr.
It has been said that true love is infinite, and the upcoming film Needle in a Timestack blurs the line on how far one would go to be with the person they love the most. The sci-fi romance drama follows a married couple struggling to maintain their relationship in a world where time travel exists. The husband pursues a nemesis who attempts to destroy his marriage, encountering surprising consequences along the way. (You can see the official images and poster below.)
After winning the Oscar for adapting the screenplay of 12 Years a Slave and directing the Jimi Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All Is by My Side, John Ridley is ready to show he can venture into other genres with Needle in a Timestack.
Adapted from Robert Silverberg’s collection of short stories of the same name published in 1966, Needle in a Timestack has an amazing cast, including Oscar nominees Leslie Odom, Jr. and Cynthia Erivo, who portray Nick and Janine, a couple who lives in marital bliss, until Janine’s ex-husband (Orlando Bloom), alters time in order to tear apart their union using Nick’s former love interest (Frieda Pinto).
Erivo recently played Aretha Franklin on the National Geographic series Genius. She is a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner, and two-time Academy Award Nominee. Odom Jr. stood out as Aaron Burr in Hamilton, and was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his work in Regina King’s One Night in Miami… Pinto was in the surprise hit Slumdog Millionaire and Bloom achieved international fame after participating in the Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings franchises.
The chemistry between the film’s stars makes Needle in a Timestack that much more intriguing. “Cynthia and Leslie make for such an amazing on-screen pairing,” Ridley said in an interview with Essence. “Their chemistry, camaraderie, and talent just fill the frame. I could not have asked for a more dynamic tandem.”
Needle in a Timestack is scheduled to be released in the United States on digital, video on demand, and in limited theaters by Lionsgate on October 15, 2021, and on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on October 19.
