Which Eagles to Watch Against WSSU
DURHAM, NC — The North Carolina Central University Eagles are set to face former CIAA foe and in-state rival, the Winston-Salem State University Rams at 6 PM at the O’Kelley-Riddick Stadium on their campus. This will be their home debut of the season, after being away from home the first two games.
The Eagles are currently 1-1 on the season, where they dropped last week’s contest against the Thundering Herd of Marshall in Huntington, WV, by the score of 44-10, while they earned their first win on August 28th against Alcorn State, 23-14, in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta, GA.
On Defense, look out for redshirt sophomore linebacker Cole Williams to make an impact. Williams is currently the MEAC leader with 19 tackles, where 16 of them came against last week’s game against Marshall.
Also, look out for freshman defensive back Marvin Reed to make an impact. Reed recorded the sixth-longest interception return in NCCU Eagles history against Marshall last week, where he returned it for 94 yards.
On to the offense, Senior running back Isaiah Totten is seventh all-time, with 2,180 ground yards and 15 touchdowns. Totten may have a slow start to this year, but look for him to pick it up in this game.
Plus, look for sophomore quarterback Davius Richard to make spectacular passes to delight the home fans in Durham. Richard has thrown two touchdown passes so far — against Alcorn State in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge more than two weeks ago.
This game should be entertaining and the Eagles look to rock the house this upcoming Saturday Night.
