Durham, NC – In the midst of covid, there have not been any major in-person events and gatherings in which to indulge. Now with the vaccine and the safety restrictions being lifted, it’s becoming safer to join family and friends. Restaurants, event planners, performers, caterers, etc. are anxious and ready to get back to work.

For the owners of Indulge Catering, LLC, it’s a labor of love. Embracing the motto “Indulge: One Bite, One Plate, One Meal at a Time,” is what sets this Black-women, veteran-owned and operated business, apart. Executive Chef Queen Precious-Jewel and Sous Chef Jacqueline “Jay” have built a highly sought-after catering business by creating healthy, flavorful dishes that astonish and delight clients—all while using fresh ingredients from local vendors.

Precious-Jewel

Queen Precious-Jewel Zabriskie is the Owner/Founder/Executive Chef of Indulge Catering, LLC. She established and created all of the unique indulgent healthy flavorful menus. A graduate of Shaw University with a business management degree, she is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, and enjoys bowling in her spare time.

As the eldest of 6 children, Jewel always prepared healthy, great-tasting food for her family. This is what started her love of cooking, combining flavors, and creating meals that pull inspiration from growing up Muslim in the Bronx, NY. Being a Chef is her blessed journey.

“I have a gift that I get to share as a way of bringing community back to the table,” says Jewel. “I enjoy sharing my love of truly experiencing the joy of food through your eyes, the smells, and of course, the taste. As a weight loss surgery patient, I have lost 150 pounds, and that journey is what makes me so passionate about dispelling the myth that healthy food is flavorless, boring, and bland.”

Jacqueline “Jay”

Jacqueline “Jay” White oversees communications, client relations, contracts, and staffing. Jacqueline is a Durham native and helps to ensure that they utilize fresh local ingredients from local vendors in the Triangle. However, her most important role is as Indulge Catering’s Sous Chef. Around Durham, Jacqueline is known as the mayor because she is very personable and has never met a stranger or forgotten a face. Jacqueline is also a Veteran of the United States Army.

In 2014 Indulge Catering, LLC. was born. In 2016, Precious-Jewel took a leap of faith and began the journey of full-time Caterer/Private Chef. “I worked hard to build a highly sought-after catering business by creating high-end healthy, flavorful dishes that astonish and delight my clients—while still supporting local vendors,” she says. “I love to challenge my clients to elevate their palates and welcome them to my table to Indulge.”
