GREENSBORO NC – A North Carolina family who brought love, comfort, and food to their community went from food truck to restaurant in less than a year.

The father-son-duo Will and Joe Wyatt are co-owners of Ben’s Boyz Premium Comfort Food located in the Friendly Center. They sell premium comfort food because it is a healthier version of soul food. This is a family-friendly restaurant that enjoys open interactions with its customers. Will says, “If you only got $10.00, this is the place to come.”

Many people asked them how they went from a food truck to a restaurant so quickly. Will even said he laughed at his son, Joe when he brought it to his attention about opening a restaurant. Will says, “It was the anointing that made a difference.” And because of the anointing that was happening in Wyatt’s family business, we opened our restaurant on June 1, 2021.

The legacy that was started by Will’s father, Ben, is now continuing and growing as they can give those in the community an opportunity. Will talks about how it was a miracle and favor that the Friendly Center supported and made sure that they were able to have an area for their restaurant. It was not easy opening up a restaurant during the pandemic because of short staff but Will says that everyone who comes in, has been supportive and understanding. Social Media promotions have helped them tremendously, as a Tik-Tok went viral leading to more business.

They call themselves the “Tribe” family. Although everyone may not be from the same culture or family, they are still able to come together as one. Like Joe said, “We are more than just food, we are an extended family.”

Ben’s Boyz Premium Comfort Food features local artists’ paintings and authors’ literature in their restaurant, allowing those in the community to showcase their work. When customers are waiting or enjoying their southern comfort food, they are checking out the work that is displayed in their bookstore and on the walls of the restaurant. They also mentor teenagers; wanting to make a difference in their lives and teach them how to be entrepreneurs.

Will says, “He thanks God for the overflow.” It is a miracle that a son and dad’s dream that Will and Joe envisioned has come true. “Whatever the Lord has for us, He will give us the resources,” Will says. The abundance of love, favor, and support has been more than Ben’s Boyz could imagine, and they are very thankful.

Ben’s Boyz has also launched a line of products including lemonade, seasoning blend, hot sauce, and other sauces ensuring that their products and name will go nationwide. One customer stated, “I love their food, I am glad you tried them. They need to be heard about; this is Greensboro’s best southern comfort food.”
