#22 NC State Wolfpack Prepares to Take on Boston College

RALEIGH NC – #22 NC State Wolfpack (4-1) get set to return to action after a bye week and will travel to Chesnut Hill to take on the Boston College Eagles (4-1) this Saturday night.

The Wolfpack are riding on a two-game win streak after beating LA Tech in a week 5 thriller 34-27. Despite not playing a week ago, they climbed up one spot in the AP Poll. Shockingly it is just the Packs second game played on the road this year, and they would like to improve their 0-1 record when away from Carter-Finley Stadium.

“This a tough stretch on our schedule for us having to play four of our next five games on the road starting with Boston College” coach Dave Doeren expressed to the media when diving into this week’s matchup.

The Wolfpack have a losing record of 7-10 against the Eagles all-time but have gone 2-1 in their previous three battles. Doeren being here for quite some time knows that this will not be an easy matchup and will undoubtedly present its challenges.

“With Boston College, you know they are a 4-1 team and play really hard. They have a very good statistical defense, and when you watch them, they are fundamentally sound.”

BC currently sits as the 31st ranked defense in the nation and could create problems for Devin Leary and the Pack passing attack, having recorded 6 interceptions on the campaign thus far. In addition, they have surrendered an impressive 9 offensive touchdowns with around 319 yards per game.

On the offensive side, they are ranked 63rd, averaging 408.4 yards a game while racking up 20 total touchdowns. The Eagles have been without their promising QB Phil Jurkovec who went down in week 2 and has played with backup Dennis Grosel. Since taking over, Grosel has compiled 788 yards with 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, and a QBR of 76.4. The Pack can take advantage of BC’s weak passing game, but they do have a productive running back rotation with Pat Garwo, Alec Sinkfield, and Travis Levy.

This will be a crucial stretch for the Wolfpack, having multiple conference games upcoming on their schedule and if they want to remain in the hunt to appear in December’s ACC championship game in Charlotte. They must take advantage of the Eagles offensive weaknesses and continue to play their best football in the 2021 season.
