Wolfpack Coach Dave Doeren was Impressed by This Specific Position Group

RALEIGH NC – Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren addressed the media following their victory over Boston College on Monday afternoon. In their 33-7 showing on Saturday, Doeren was practically impressed by his wide receiver group and thought they executed the game plan accordingly.

“Positives on offense we really emphasized being able to have contact catches in this game because of the tight man-to-man coverage BC had shown and we were able to do that.”

The Pack was going up against a respectable BC defense who had made countless explosive plays in the secondary throughout the season. Doeren and his team knew that they had to make adjustments to succeed in the passing attack. Contact catches have been something Doeren had spoken about in the past and understands how key it is to make those plays because it impacts the entire game.

We all witnessed firsthand how crucial it was for Devin Carter to make that contact game-winning reception in overtime in the Clemson game weeks back. With one outstanding contact catch in traffic, the Pack suddenly became nationally ranked, and they have not looked back since. He was thoroughly pleased about how they performed against BC and scored all three offensive touchdowns in the air and in traffic.

“It started right away with Devin Carter. He sparked us. It was awesome to see him make that play, and he had made it in practice. I thought Dylan Parham’s catch in the end zone put him in an awkward position and scored a touchdown there and obviously Thayer Thomas’s catch in traffic. All three of those contact catches were touchdowns for us.”

This should only continue to be something that Doeren and his staff preach each week. What the Pack wide receiver group was able to display put them in the best position to win the game, and it made a tremendous difference for them to go up and get the football in multiple tight coverage situations.
