Pamela McAllister Named Principal At Smith Middle School
Chapel Hill, NC – The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) Board of Education, at its October 21 meeting, named current assistant principal, Pamela McAllister, as the next principal of Smith Middle School.
McAllister joined the administrative team at Smith in 2019. Among her many responsibilities, she led multidisciplinary teams to identify and implement accommodations for students with special needs, facilitated school-wide Equity Centered Classrooms professional development, and served as Middle School 101 site administrator.
McAllister began her tenure with CHCCS in 2008 as a classroom teacher and a Title I interventionist at McDougle Elementary, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2013. She also completed her principal internship at McDougle Elementary. She went on to serve as an assistant principal at Githens Middle and Oak Grove Elementary in Durham Public Schools before returning to CHCCS.
McAllister is currently working toward her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and holds a master’s degree in School Administration from North Carolina Central University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fayetteville State University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
McAllister takes over for Robin Buckrham, who was recently named CHCCS Executive Director of Secondary Schools.
