Aranda’s Walk-Off Seals Game 3 Win for Bulls

Durham, NC — The Durham Bulls (13-20) come back to defeat the Gwinnett Stripers (17-16) 8-7 in game 3. The series is now 2-1, with the Stripers leading. 

The Bulls’ comeback, fueled by a big fourth inning and a walk-off homer in the 9th by 2B Jonathan Aranda, makes the series 2-1. 

P Joel Peguero got the start for the Bulls. Peguero pitched for three innings before being relieved by Miller Hogan. Zack Erwin, Javy Guerra, Luke Bard, Shawn Armstrong, and Ralph Garza Jr. also pitched. 

The Stripers struck early in game 3, picking up where they left off from game 2. 

RF Greyson Jenista grounds a forceout, allowing 1B Hernan Perez to score at the top of the second. 

Fireworks were all throughout the fourth inning. The Bulls and Stripers each scored six runs making the score 7-6.

2B Ryan Goins singled on a line drive, allowing LF Alex Dickerson to score. Jenista scored after 3B Phil Gosselin was hit by a pitch. 

SS Braden Shewmake sacrificed on a fly to allow a score by CF Delino DeShields. C Chadwick Tromp homers on a fly ball to left-center field. Goins and Gosselin scored off the homer, too. 

The Bulls matched the Stripers’ firepower in the fourth tonight, going toe-to-toe with Gwinnett. 

SS Miles Mastrobuoni triples on a line drive. C Ford Procter scores. Mastrobuoni also scored off a wild pitch by P Bryce Elder. 

Aranda singles on a ground ball, allowing a score from 1B Jim Haley. 

RF Josh Lowe doubles on a fly ball to left field, allowing three scores from LF Cal Stevenson, CF Ryan Boldt, and Aranda. 

Proctor scored again off a line drive to center field by Mastrobuoni. 

Aranda singles on a line drive to right field, and Mastrobuoni scores, sealing the Bulls’ walk-off victory. 

Mastrobuoni and Aranda were the stars for the Bulls tonight. Mastrobuoni scored two runs, and Aranda made the highlight play. 

Ralph Garza Jr. (2-2) got the win for the Bulls, and P Nick Vincent (0-3) recorded his third loss. 

The Bulls will be back in action against the Stripers tomorrow for game 4 in Durham, NC.
