Code Red To Host ‘Stomp And Shake’ Cheer Jamboree At NCSU

RALEIGH – The Stomp And Shake Cheerleading Team called Code Red at North Carolina State University will host a Cheer Jamboree on Friday, April 21, from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at the Witherspoon Student Center on the campus of NCSU.

The theme will focus on “Old School vs. New School,” where the performances will consist of hits from 1980 to the current day. So, you will hear the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, Run-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Soulja Boy, and many other artists to whom the Stomp-N-Shake teams will cheer.

Code RedIn addition to Code Red, you will see performances of The Blue Thunder from UNC-Chapel Hill, Five Star Cheer from UNC-Charlotte, and the Blue Heat of UNC-Greensboro. These teams will bring the house down with their spectacular dance moves and their enthusiasm when they cheer.

This should showcase the talents of the various Stomp and Shake Cheers, which date back to the 1940s. It is popular in the Southeast, where it became gained notoriety in the 1970s at various HBCUs. The style is popular thanks to the cheerleaders comprising rhythmic words, use of beats made by stomping, clapping, & snapping, a variety of head motions, hip hop & jazz dance, stunts, tumbling, big, sharp, and precise arm motions, constant movement changes in formation, tone, and facial expressions. Many middle and high schools, as well as HBCUs, incorporate this style in their cheers.
