North Carolinians Announce Coalition Against NC GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Robinson

RALEIGH – On Tuesday (April 25), a diverse group of organizations representing educators, workers, rural people, communities of color, and issue areas such as environmental justice, sensible gun reform, abortion rights, and LGBTQ rights, announced a new coalition: CARE, the Coalition Against Robinson’s Extremism.

In response to Mark Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign announcement, the coalition has come together to ensure North Carolinians understand Robinson’s abhorrent views on the LGBTQ community, far-right positions on abortion and guns, and denials of the reality of racism. Coalition Against Robinson’s Extremism (CARE) stands together to counter this message of hate and violence.

CARE will be communicating with voters around the state in the coming months to ensure citizens are educated about Mark Robinson’s extremism and his impact on our communities.

“Mark Robinson threatens violence against the government, actively spreads misinformation, and has built a legacy of hate and division that endangers the lives of North Carolinians. His politics are dangerous for our communities and the people we care about,” said Reverend CJ Brinson, Piedmont Regional Manager at Down Home North Carolina. “Together, we will continue to fight for a North Carolina that is a place of freedom and prosperity for all of us, and ensure voters understand what’s at stake in the 2024 Governor’s race.”

Amanda Baker from Alamance County stated, “Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson doesn’t want my kids to be able to express themselves freely in a manner that they choose. He doesn’t trust that me or my daughter has the competency to make her own healthcare decisions and he wants to cage the curiosity and thought expansion of my children’s minds through book banning. Why would I vote to take such extreme and harmful actions against my own kids?”
