NC State gets 86th win all-time over Virginia
RALEIGH, N.C.- The North Carolina State Wolfpack improves to 11-3 (3-0) with the 76-60 win over Virginia for the first time in 11 years at the PNC Arena.
The first half was more tempo-based.
NC State managed to be effective by scoring on defense, second chance points, and multiple runs on the Cavaliers.
Casey Morsell finished with one three-pointer despite coming into the game making 56% of three-pointers in the last five games. Dennis Parker Jr stepped up for the Pack to put up two three-pointers to close out the half.
Within the first minute of the second half, the Wolfpack extended its lead to 10, then increased throughout the rest of the game.
Different players for the Wolfpack stepped up including DJ Horne, Jayden Taylor, and Dennis Parker Jr.
NC State scored 30 points off three-pointers to aid in Saturday’s win against Virginia. The Cavaliers did not shoot well or play well on defense. Virginia only averaged three three-pointers a game coming into Saturday’s game.
After a slow start, DJ Horne was activated and finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
The Pack scored nine points off turnovers and forced eight turnovers on the Cavaliers.
Moving forward NC State needs to continue to feed DJ Burns early! He will get the offense going early in the game. And continue to keep rotating players in the lineup. Each player brings something different to the court that allowed the Pack to succeed in Saturday’s game.
