Proctor’s career-high helps Duke defeat Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Duke guard Tyrese Proctor set a new career-high with 24 points to lead no. 12 Duke Blue Devils to an 83-69 victory over the Louisville Cardinals on Tuesday night at the KFC Yum! Center.

Forward Mark Mitchell returned to the starting lineup for Duke (14-4, 5-2 ACC) with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double. Center Kyle Filipowski logged a double-double as well, scoring 17 points and matching his career-high with 15 boards. Senior guard Jeremy Roach also returned to action on Tuesday night.

Tuesday marked the first time this season that two Blue Devils registered double-doubles in the same game, courtesy of Mitchell (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Filipowski (17 points, 15 rebounds).

Mitchell’s double-double was his second across his last three games played. The sophomore shot 8-of 11 (72.7%) from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds, while playing 34 minutes in his return.

The 20-point effort marked Mitchell’s fourth career outing with 20 points or more and 27th career game with at least 10 points. Duke is 25-2 when he reaches the double-figure threshold.

Kyle Filipowski scored 17 points while reeling in 15 rebounds, matching his career high for boards. He now has seven double-doubles this season and 23 in his career.
Filipowski now has three double-doubles across Duke’s last four games.

Tyrese Proctor scored a career-high 24 points, while also dishing four assists. He has now scored in double-figures in each of Duke’s last three games and is averaging 17.3 points over that stretch.

“I thought it was a really good game for us. Really good to get that win. For our team, we’ve played through a pretty good amount of adversity these last three games. And you feel game pressure, you have to play with different lineups – Jeremy’s injury happens – and for us to really step up, collectively, and get that win, I’m proud of the team.” – head coach Jon Scheyer

No. 12 Duke welcomes Clemson (13-5, 3-4 ACC) to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Blue Devils’ final January home game tips at 4 p.m.
