Shooting in Downtown Durham leaves one dead

The Durham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on W. Morgan Street and Watts Street.

At approximately 2:02 am on April 28, 2024, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound in the parking lot located on W. Morgan Street and Watts Street. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are on the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

This is an ongoing investigation and appears to be an isolated incident. Additional information on the shooting will be released at the appropriate time.
