HENDERSON, NC — A girl from Henderson is headed to Hollywood. Twelve-year-old social media influencer Varonica Mitchell has signed a deal to shoot a new sitcom.

Varonica recently signed a lucrative deal with Academy Award Winning and Oscar-nominated production company Lions Forge in connection with HBO Max and Nickelodeon Animation Studios, where the production company is currently working with Varonica to create her own television show.

Varonica started off in entertainment right in Henderson, dancing at her local church, which her grandparents founded. Her parents, Thomas and Vanessa Mitchell, eventually founded a dance academy, where Varonica flourished and grew in the arts.

With the unwavering support and guidance of her parents, Thomas and Vanessa Mitchell, Varonica’s talent for acting blossomed. They encouraged her to start TikTok and YouTube accounts and later added Facebook and Instagram. Her online presence quickly grew, amassing over 2 million followers and 20 million views of her videos.

Varonica’s talent and charisma didn’t go unnoticed. Industry heavyweights such as Will Smith, Taraji P. Henson, MC Lyte, and Jennifer Hudson were captivated by her. A dynamic video remake of an iconic scene from the movie “Dream Girls” was the turning point. Jennifer Hudson’s Talk Show producers were so impressed that they flew Varonica and her family out to LA for a national television interview. The surprise of her life awaited her on the show, where she was given the opportunity to perform another one of her viral videos live on stage. The artist of the hip-hop song she performed, Lil Jon, surprised her on stage and completed the performance with her, creating a truly unforgettable moment.

Varonica has been cast for the main role in a remake of the 1989 movie classic “Polly,” originally played by Keshia Knight Pulliam from The Cosby Show. She has already filmed the pilot for the film in September 2023 in Alabama and just recently filmed the short film “I Do… Maybe” in Florida on the campus of Florida State University.

She is managed by her parents and by Warner Bros. sitcom producer and mentor to Hollywood kid stars Irene Dreayer (Nickelodeon Executive Producer of the 90s sitcom Sister Sister, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and more) in LA.

Varonica is not only a talented young lady but also has a giving heart. She created a give-back campaign called “VV’s Laugh, Love & Hope Project Tour” that she hosts during back-to-school, Thanksgiving, and Christmas each year. She teams up with the Women That Care organization and donates school supplies, clothing, toys, and food to people in the community, reaching over 300 families. Varonica also regularly hosts soup kitchens in her hometown to feed the needy.
