Chapel Hill Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Announces Major Sponsorship

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will sponsor the 4th Annual Orange-Chatham African American Cultural Festival on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The festival will take place outdoors and will be held at the Lincoln Center, located at 750 S. Merritt Mill Road, Chapel Hill, NC.  Come out to a day of enjoyment celebrating the culture of African Americans through expressions of dance, art, music, and poetry.  The contributions of African Americans are important to the culture of the United States, and the mission of the festival is to promote a positive image of African Americans and other minorities in our community.

This event is FREE to the public.

This year’s lineup showcases an incredible roster of local artists.  The Magic of Rhythm, a Durham-based ensemble, brings African history and culture to life through a vibrant blend of traditional and original music, dance, and storytelling.  Setting the tone for the event, DJ Ajax will deliver an eclectic mix of Gospel, Jazz, Top 100 hits, Urban, Caribbean, and Afrobeats.

Also taking the stage is Jasmé Kelly, known as the “Daughter of Soul,” whose distinctive sound fuses folk, jazz, blues, and soul with gritty rock and infectious pop.  The Lynnette Barber & Will Ellis Experience Band will deliver a high-energy performance, pairing Lynnette’s powerhouse vocals with Will’s dynamic piano artistry.

Additional performances include Carolina Elite Studios, a competitive youth dance studio for ages 4–18, along with Churxh and the Dance & Get Fit Line Dance Group, bringing even more energy and excitement to the event.

Attendees can also enjoy a variety of vendors, food trucks, and family-friendly activities, including a bounce house for children.  A flyer containing details about the festival is attached.  For more information, contact [email protected].
