Durham Sheriffs Office Set to Host Community Resource Event on Saturday
Durham, NC – The Durham County Sheriff’s Office will host its 4thAnnual “Community Resource Event” tomorrow at Durham County Stadium. Since the summer of 2022, this local event combines community outreach, school support, and a general call to stop the violence across Durham County.
“We want people to know there are resources out there for everything you need in Durham,” said Durham County Sheriff Clarence Birkhead. “This free event provides a safe space for our community to connect with us in law enforcement, learn about local resources, and take advantage of complimentary book bags filled with school supplies so our youth can get ready for the new school year. We’ve had a tremendous show of support from a wide cross section of Durham who have donated what you will see tomorrow; and for this we are extremely grateful.”
The event, happening Saturday, August 1 at 10 a.m. at Durham County Stadium (750 Stadium Drive), is part of the DCSO Project Safe Neighborhoods effort. Just yesterday, volunteers joined DCSO to pack book bags for tomorrow’s event – click here to see a video about this hands-on effort.
