Man Dies After Overnight Shooting on Rigsbee Avenue in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating an overnight shooting on Rigsbee Avenue that left a man dead early Friday morning.

Officers with the Durham Police Department responded at approximately 1:54 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, to the 700 block of Rigsbee Avenue following a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man who had been shot.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

Durham police have not released the victim’s identity or provided information about what may have led to the shooting.

No information about a possible suspect or arrest was included in the department’s initial release.

The investigation remains active, and police said additional information will be released when appropriate.
