Jay-Z to Headline 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show After Years of Producing Music’s Biggest Stage

After years of helping bring music’s biggest stars to the Super Bowl stage, Jay-Z is preparing to take center stage himself. The announcement comes as the hip-hop icon celebrates 30 years in music. Find out what makes this performance particularly significant and which surprise guests fans may be hoping to see.

LOS ANGELES, CA — After years of helping decide who takes center stage at the Super Bowl, Jay-Z is finally stepping into the spotlight himself.

The 25-time Grammy Award-winning rapper, entrepreneur, and entertainment mogul will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The announcement came Monday night, October 26, during the Dallas Cowboys–Philadelphia Eagles game on ESPN, ending speculation about who would headline one of the world’s most-watched musical performances.

For Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, the performance represents a milestone in a career spanning three decades and a significant moment for hip-hop culture.

From Behind the Scenes to Center Stage

Since 2019, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, has partnered with the NFL to help produce and shape the Super Bowl halftime show.

Under that partnership, the halftime stage has featured some of music’s biggest names, including Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and Bad Bunny.

Now, the man who helped bring those performances to millions of viewers will become the headliner.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell revealed that he had hoped Jay-Z would eventually perform when the partnership began.

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said.

That moment has arrived.

Celebrating 30 Years of Hip-Hop Excellence

The announcement comes during a milestone year for the Brooklyn-born rapper.

2026 marks the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.

Jay-Z has spent the year celebrating his musical legacy through the JAY-Z30 concert series, including sold-out performances at Yankee Stadium, international concerts in London and Paris, and recent shows at SoFi Stadium.

His catalog includes some of hip-hop’s most recognizable songs, including “Empire State of Mind,” “99 Problems,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and “Run This Town.”

Reflecting on his upcoming Super Bowl appearance, Jay-Z described the moment as the culmination of a remarkable journey.

“Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true,” he said.

A Hip-Hop Pioneer With a Lasting Cultural Legacy

Jay-Z’s influence extends far beyond recording studios and concert stages.

He became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

His achievements include 25 Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards, and an extensive business portfolio spanning entertainment, sports, and artist management.

Through Roc Nation, which he founded in 2008, Jay-Z has helped expand opportunities for artists and athletes while influencing how major entertainment events are produced.

His upcoming halftime performance will bring together his roles as a recording artist, cultural figure, and entertainment executive.

Will Beyoncé or Other Superstars Join Him?

Although Jay-Z has been confirmed as the headliner, no special guests have been officially announced.

His recent concerts have featured appearances by artists including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, and DJ Khaled, as well as his daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Fans are also likely to speculate about a possible appearance by his wife, Beyoncé, who headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in 2013 and returned as a special guest during Super Bowl 50.

For now, the guest lineup and song selections remain under wraps.

When and Where to Watch

Super Bowl LXI will take place on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The game and halftime show will air on ABC and ESPN, with streaming available through Disney+ and mobile access through NFL+.

Roc Nation will serve as executive producer of the halftime show, with Hamish Hamilton directing.

After three decades of chart-topping music, cultural influence and business success, Jay-Z is preparing for another career-defining performance.
