TRAILER WATCH: Michael B. Jordan Takes on ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ — and This Time, He’s Running the Show
Michael B. Jordan is stepping into the world of wealth, seduction, high-stakes crime and deception — but he isn’t simply starring in the new The Thomas Crown Affair.
He’s directing and producing it, too.
The Academy Award winner takes creative control of Amazon MGM Studios’ new interpretation of the stylish heist thriller, playing a man whose greatest advantage may be that no one realizes just how dangerous he is.
Described as visually breathtaking, sensual and unexpectedly moving, the new film arrives with an enticing tagline:
“Revenge is a work of art.”

Michael B. Jordan Steps Behind the Camera
Jordan has assembled a formidable cast for his take on The Thomas Crown Affair.
Joining the Sinners star are Kenneth Branagh (Belfast, Tenet), Adria Arjona (Hit Man, Andor), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Danai Gurira (Black Panther, The Walking Dead) and Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones, Ghost in the Shell).
The film also features an original score by Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste — an intriguing addition for a movie that appears to be leaning heavily into style, atmosphere and sophistication.
A New Take on a Classic Heist Story
The screenplay was written by Drew Pearce and Jason Hall, based on a story by Alan R. Trustman and Pearce and on a screenplay by Trustman.
Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo produce through Outlier Society, alongside Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment, Patrick McCormick, and Marc Toberoff of Toberoff Productions. Trustman serves as executive producer.
But it’s Jordan’s position on both sides of the camera that makes this version particularly interesting.
He’s not simply inheriting Thomas Crown.
He’s getting to decide what Thomas Crown looks, feels, and moves like for a new generation.
Luxury, Danger — and Revenge
The first teaser poster doesn’t reveal much of the plot, and that’s probably the point.
Jordan appears in an immaculate white tuxedo jacket, black bow tie and black leather gloves. His face isn’t even fully shown.
It’s elegant. Controlled. Mysterious.
And paired with “Revenge is a work of art,” it suggests this Thomas Crown Affair may have something darker underneath all that luxury.
The film was also filmed for IMAX, suggesting Jordan intends this heist to be experienced on a grand scale.
When Does ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ Open?
We’ll have to wait a little longer to discover exactly what Jordan’s Thomas Crown is plotting.
Amazon MGM Studios will release The Thomas Crown Affair in theaters worldwide on March 5, 2027.
Until then, watch the trailer above and decide for yourself:
Who is watching Thomas Crown — and who should be?
