4 Simple Tips on How To Look Good While Working Out
Feeling a little self-conscious about heading back to the gym? Follow some of these tips on how to look good while working out—it really helps!
Heading to the gym isn’t the most comfortable experience for most people. In fact, working out—no matter where you do it—can bring about some feelings of self-consciousness in general. This feeling of discomfort can lead to an unproductive workout session, or it can even lead people to stop working out in the future. That’s where the power of looking good wins out.
We’re not saying you need a full face of makeup before you hit the treadmill, but by choosing the right clothes and not rolling straight out of bed, you might feel more motivated to tackle the workout. Here are some of our favorite tips on how to look good while working out. Take a look!
Choose the Right Clothes
The clothes you wear to exercise set the tone for your workout. If you’re wearing clothes that are too tight, you’ll feel restricted. If you’re wearing old, ratty sweats, you won’t feel confident, either. Know the signs you need to replace your activewear collection, and then ensure you’re picking the right stuff. Look for:
- Moisture-wicking
- Breathable fabrics
- A well-fitted sports bra
- Proper shoes for the exercise
The more thought you put into the clothes you wear to the gym, the more comfortable you’ll feel. The more comfortable you are, the more confident and better you’ll feel!
Get Your Hair Up
For anyone with a long mane—get it up and off of your face. It doesn’t feel good to have your sweaty hair sticking to your back or constantly need to brush your bangs out of your face. Sometimes, even a messy ponytail doesn’t cut it.
Before you head to the gym, get that hair back in a braid, a bun, or a high ponytail with a headband. The more contained your hair is, the less you’ll have to deal with it in the middle of a sweaty workout.
Keep a Towel Handy
Speaking of sweaty workouts, keep sweat-absorbing items close by, whether that means a towel, wristbands, bandanas—whatever will help you manage your sweating. Though your sweat is something to be proud of since it shows how hard you’re working, it can also make you feel self-conscious. If you’re someone who typically sweats profusely, keep these items nearby.
Also, ensure that you wear an antiperspirant deodorant before every workout. It will cut back on the sweat your produce and prevent body odor.
Go for Natural Makeup
If you’re someone who typically wears a full face of makeup, you may not feel comfortable going barefaced when you head out to run outside or lift weights at the gym. That makes sense, but you also don’t want to clog your pores with heavy makeup and sweat. Do yourself a favor by only putting on natural makeup.
Keep your face pretty clear of foundations and heavy powders. If you think your under-eye needs some work, a bit of concealer will do. Otherwise, all you need is some mascara and eyebrow pencil, and you’re good to go. The more natural you are, the freer your face is, and the better your face will feel post-workout. Not to mention, you won’t have to deal with dripping makeup mid-workout.
