SAU Men’s Basketball Releases 2021-22 Schedule
RALEIGH NC – Thirteen home games, including five consecutive contests in January, highlight the 2021-22 Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) men’s basketball schedule.
The 28-game regular season officially begins Nov. 12-13 at the MEC/PSAC Tip-Off Challenge in Charleston, W.Va. Fans can get an early glimpse of the Falcons in an Oct. 22 exhibition game against Division I Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C.
“We are a talented but inexperienced team, and this schedule will challenge us to be at our very best every single game,” said SAU Head Coach MarQus Johnson, who has a new group of basketball student-athletes this season.
The home opener is Nov. 16 against the University of Lynchburg. The Falcons host four games in December when USC Aiken (Dec. 1), Bluefield State (Dec. 4), Johnson & Wales (Dec. 7), and Carolina Christian (Dec. 20) visit Emery Gymnasium, the site of SAU home games.
Their longest home stretch is five consecutive CIAA games in January. The Falcons host Bowie State on Jan. 6, Lincoln (Pa.) on Jan. 8, Virginia Union on Jan. 10, Winston-Salem State on Jan. 15, and Johnson C. Smith on Jan. 19.
The remaining home schedule includes Livingstone on Jan. 27, Claflin on Feb. 12, and Fayetteville State on Feb. 19.
Notable contests include the Mount Olive Pickle Classic on Nov. 19-20 and a CIAA matchup at crosstown rival Shaw, which has moved to the Northern Division on Feb. 2. The CIAA Tournament will be held in Baltimore on Feb. 21-26.
“We have a very competitive non-conference schedule which will challenge our team early but also prepare us for CIAA league play,” Johnson said.
The entire schedule is below and will be on saintaugfalcons.com by Oct. 14. Ticket prices will be announced at a later date.
