3-Year-Old Among 2 People Shot At A Walgreens In Durham

DURHAM, N.C. — At least two people were shot at a Walgreens on Monday afternoon (June 10) around 5:30 p.m., Durham Police said. It happened at the pharmacy at 710 Fayetteville Street at the corner of Lakewood Avenue.

One of those victims was a 3-year-old boy, along with an adult male.  EMS responded, and the adult male victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 3-year-old child was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting took place in the parking lot behind the Walgreens. DPD described it as a drive-by shooting. Officers on the scene were blocking the Walgreens entrance from Fayetteville Street.

Several evidence markers and crime tape surrounded a blue Honda sedan that appeared to be the target of the shooters. Such evidence markers are typically used to denote the location of empty shells from gunfire.

Police said they were ‘working to gather more information” about the shooting.
