Arrest Made in Crabtree Valley Mall Shooting Incident

RALEIGH, NC — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the recent shooting at Crabtree Valley Mall. Jaquez Anthony Brown, 24, was taken into custody by the Raleigh Police Department and is now facing multiple charges. Initially apprehended on outstanding warrants for Assault on a Female and Communicating Threats from Durham, further investigation confirmed Brown’s direct involvement in the mall shooting. As a result, he has been additionally charged with Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property, a felony offense.

Incident Overview

On October 26, 2024, at approximately 1:35 PM, Raleigh police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the parking deck outside Crabtree Valley Mall, located at 4325 Glenwood Avenue. Officers arriving at the scene found numerous shell casings and several vehicles damaged by gunfire. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.

While Brown was taken into custody, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities indicate that additional arrests are possible. Another suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, striking another vehicle before escaping. No injuries were reported from the crash.

Ongoing Investigation

Following the shooting, the Raleigh Police Department, in collaboration with Crabtree Valley Mall personnel, secured the crime scene. Officers continued to gather evidence, and areas around the parking deck near Macy’s remained closed during the investigation.

The mall remained open for business, but the public was advised to avoid the affected parking areas until further notice.
