DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 11 Duke women’s basketball team opened the 2024-25 with a bang as the Blue Devils parlayed an extremely balanced offensive attack and a stalwart defensive performance into a resounding, 89-36, victory over Radford Monday morning.
The Blue Devils (1-0) finished the game with six players in double figures, led by sophomore Jordan Wood’s 13 points and eight rebounds – both career bests. Classmate Delaney Thomas and senior Reigan Richardson were next in line, chipping in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Sophomores Jadyn Donovan and Oluchi Okananwa and freshman Toby Fournier rounded out the Blue Devils’ quintet of double-digit scorers with 10 points each. Donovan paced Duke on the glass with nine boards, finishing with a near double-double.
Duke improves to 41-9 overall in season openers and won its 26th consecutive home opener dating back to 1998-99.
Duke hits the road for its next two games, beginning with a trip to the Old Dominion State for a date with the Liberty Flames Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 PM.
