Raleigh Police Investigate Homicide Following Early Morning Shooting on Poole Road

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man has died following an early morning shooting in Raleigh on New Year’s Day, prompting a homicide investigation, police confirmed Wednesday.

Around 6:15 a.m. on the morning of January 1, Raleigh Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Poole Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries but later succumbed to his wounds.

This incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Detectives and officers remained on the scene throughout the morning, gathering evidence and working to determine the circumstances leading to the shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time, and authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
