Shots Fired Near C.E. Jordan High Prompts Lockdown; No Injuries Reported
DURHAM, N.C. – C.E. Jordan High School in Durham was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon following reports of gunfire in the surrounding neighborhood, according to the Durham Police Department.
Authorities say the incident occurred just before noon when officers from both the Durham Police Department and the Durham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots-fired call near the school. Witnesses reported seeing people running in the area, prompting an immediate response.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no victims have been located, and there is no indication that the gunfire occurred on school grounds.
A spokesperson for Durham Public Schools confirmed that the reported activity happened in the neighborhood surrounding the campus, located at 6806 Garrett Road, but not on the school’s property itself.
State troopers also arrived at the scene to assist with the response.
