Raleigh Man Dies After Shooting Near Oakwood Ave.; Suspect Charged With Murder
RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man has died following a shooting earlier this week on Oakwood Ave., and a suspect has been charged with murder, police said.
Shooting Reported Tuesday Night
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 8:29 p.m., Raleigh Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Colleton Road and Oakwood Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Jamael Truesdale suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Victim Dies Two Days Later
Truesdale succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, May 15. His death marked one of several fatal shootings reported in the Triangle area this week.
Suspect Identified and Charged

Following the investigation, 32-year-old Perez Keyes was identified as the suspect. He has been formally charged with murder in connection with Truesdale’s death.
This case remains under active investigation by the Raleigh Police Department.
