Woman Found Dead in Durham Home; Son Identified as Suspect

May 17: A woman was found dead inside a home on Sherron Road in Durham following a welfare check conducted by the Durham County Sheriff’s Office. She was identified Friday as 64-year-old Stephanie Donita McCoy. Authorities have confirmed the case is being investigated as a homicide. Her son, 38-year-old Alexander James Glenn Jr., is the main suspect in his mother’s death and remains at large. He is considered dangerous, and anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately and not approach him.

Gunfire Outside Durham Police Department Under Investigation

May 17: Shots were fired outside the Durham Police Department headquarters. Officers heard gunfire and found shell casings in the parking lot. No injuries were reported, and investigators are working to identify suspects.

Raleigh Man Dies After Shooting Near Oakwood Avenue; Suspect Charged With Murder

May 12: Raleigh police responded to a shooting near Oakwood Avenue, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. Following an investigation, 32-year-old Perez Keyes was identified as the suspect and has been formally charged with murder in connection with the incident.

Raleigh Man Arrested After Woman Shot on North Hills Drive

May 10: A woman was shot and injured on North Hills Drive in Raleigh and later hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested Eric Broughton, 30, who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a firearm within city limits.

May 14: Jay J. Poulos, 52, of Sanford, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the NC SBI and charged with 20 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges followed an investigation initiated by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led to the discovery of child sexual abuse material in Poulos’s possession. He is being held on a $250,000 secured bond

Nash County

Teen Dies After Shooting in Little Raleigh Area

May 14: A 16-year-old died after being shot in the Little Raleigh neighborhood of Rocky Mount. Larry Davis was pronounced dead shortly after Nash County emergency medical services personnel got him to the hospital. Police said that an investigation is ongoing and called what occurred “an unfortunate situation” between family members.

May 15: Four Florida residents were arrested on I-95 in Nash County after deputies responded to reports of someone using drugs behind the wheel. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 22.6 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at $600,000, hidden in coolers and boxes. All four suspects—James Gainer (36), Dwayne Hubert (32), A’shanti Portee (23), and Marshayla Troutman (23)—were charged with Level III trafficking methamphetamine and are being held on $3 million bonds each.

Granville County

Two Juveniles Shot in Oxford; Both Suspects in Custody

March 13: Two juveniles were shot at a residence on Maple Drive in Oxford shortly after 12:50 a.m. and later airlifted to Duke Medical Center for treatment. Following an investigation, detectives charged Jerome Bumpass and Nicolen Maurice Pettiford with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Bumpass was arrested at his residence, and Pettiford—originally considered armed and dangerous—has since been taken into custody.
