A Young Entrepreneur Reinvents Cake Presentation with Heated Stand

At just 25 years old, Cortrell Winkfield is changing how desserts are served with the launch of Velvera—a first-of-its-kind heated cake stand designed to keep cakes and baked goods warm while on display.

Winkfield says the idea came to him in a dream when he was 22. In it, he saw his grandmother placing a pineapple upside-down cake on a glowing, high-tech cake stand. Inspired, he quickly wrote down the concept and began turning it into a real product. Since then, he has filed more than 11 patents to protect the invention.  

The result is Velvera, a sleek and modern cake stand that combines style with functionality. It features built-in warming technology and adjustable temperature controls, making it useful for both home bakers and professional settings like events or bakeries.  

Winkfield describes Velvera as more than just a kitchen tool. He sees it as a new way to enhance the dessert experience—keeping treats at the perfect temperature while also elevating their presentation.

The product has already gained national attention, including appearances on The Tamron Hall Show and coverage by local news outlets, after gaining traction on social media.  

Designed to be cordless and rechargeable, Velvera blends convenience with a premium look. Winkfield plans to expand the brand beyond this single product, with goals of entering retail, hospitality, and event markets.
