NC Central Dominates CIAA Foe to Open 2026 Season

DURHAM, N.C. — On Saturday, September 5, the North Carolina Central University Eagles football team defeated the Elizabeth City State Vikings 27-6 at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium.

NC Central (1-1) overcame a slow start to head into halftime with a 21-0 advantage.

NCCU was led offensively by wide receiver Chance Peterson, who finished the game with 109 yards on five catches. Quarterback Nelson Layne finished the game with two throwing touchdowns and one interception.

Elizabeth City State (0-1) was led by quarterback Josef Manley III who had 130 total yards and a rushing touchdown.

NC Central will return to action on Saturday, September 12 when they face NC A&T State at home at 6 pm.
